Intel update 03/17/04

The much-anticipated Tokyo Marui M14 AEG is penned for 2004 release, but everybody is guessing exactly when and what new features will be seen in M14 AEG?

Rumors have circulated in internet that M14 AEG would be released at the end of 2004 or even early 2005, but there are signs that contradict this.

First sign is that well-known Japanese retailer UNCLE is now advertising Marui M14 AEG and reservations are already being taken by some Japanese retailers.

Second is that Tokyo Marui does not normally announce major products too early. Usually release will happen within half a year of first announcement (this is post-UZI AEG era).

Third and most straightforward, look at the Marui M14 poster release information. It says plain and simple ”2004 NEXT New” and Marui has been very reliable when it comes to release of products. Since Marui tends to release one completely new AEG every year (2000 Thompson M1A1, 2001 P90, 2002 G36C, 2003 being exception with release of three variants M733, SG552 and G3 SAS) it all makes lot of sense.

One of the biggest questions is what gearbox will be in M14? Speculation in Japan is revolving around version VII gearbox. Indeed Japanese hobbyists have been recently speaking that version VII gearbox was confirmed by Tokyo Marui event staff in recent V-MAT exhibition. Even before this some of the well-known professional customizers and retailers in Japan were confident that M14 will most likely have completely new Marui gearbox, since the current selection of Marui gearboxes doesn’t have anything that would fit into M14 body.

While we are waiting for Tokyo Marui’s first AEG of 2004 stay tuned to RENEGADE RECON for the latest on M14.
